It is on the bottom of the car that corrosion is most often formed, which is extremely difficult to get rid of. Body repair and scrap cars for cash itself is difficult and expensive. Taking into account the active use of various reagents and salt by road workers, it is not surprising that car bottoms often rot and require expensive restoration. Many experienced car owners perform their own car underbody treatment, which helps prevent corrosion, thereby reducing vehicle operating costs.
There are many types of corrosion protection for the car body. This is, first of all, the application of paint and varnish, various protective compounds, mud and water protection shields, covering with armor film and so on. It is extremely important to protect the elements that are closer to the road from corrosion, it is here that the metal is exposed to increased loads and the appearance of rust is often noted.
Compositions used for underbody protection
Today, in specialized stores, you can find dozens of varieties of such protection, which is designed to treat the bottom and prevent corrosion. Such a protective treatment should be complex, that is, protective compounds are applied to the internal, hidden and external cavities.
For the bottom treatment, special anti-corrosion compounds are used, it can be passive or active treatment, as well as transformative treatment, which removes existing rust.
During passive treatment, various anti-corrosion mastics are applied to the bottom of the car, made on the basis of resins, rubber and bitumen. Their disadvantage is the need for thorough preparation of the base for application, but at the same time such compositions have an affordable cost.
Active anticorrosive products are liquid products that do not harden after application. These are the well-known Movil or similar products, they are used to treat the inner surfaces of the bottom and hidden cavities.
Conversion processing is rather one of the stages of complex work. It is necessary in cases where there are already large foci of rust on the bottom. This conversion treatment and special formulations are based on phosphoric acid, which removes all rust.
The direct execution of all the work is not particularly difficult. The car is driven onto a lift, overpass or garage pit, after which, armed with special spray cans, spray guns or a brush, all surfaces are carefully treated. Therefore, the bottom must first be thoroughly washed, treated with a rust converter, and applied, if necessary, with a primer. This work is carried out in several stages, which can take several hours or several days, depending on the specific composition for processing the car body. If desired, all the work can be done independently, without contacting the service and saving on the operation of the car.
